Must Have Bruce Lee Jeet Kune Do Books

Written by Lak Loi,

One of the most common questions I get asked by my JKD / Self Mastery students is,

Sifu, which Jeet Kune Do book(s) should I get?

So here are some of my favourites, categorised by  (1) Physical, (2) Mental & Spiritual, and (3) Collectors…

1. PHYSICAL

If you want to learn the fundamentals of Jeet Kune Do and how best to train it, then these four books are a MUST HAVE:

If you want to learn the structure, stance and basic footwork in Jeet Kune Do, then this book is a MUST HAVE:

If you want to learn supplemental JKD entering to takedowns, throws and grappling, then these two books are a MUST HAVE:

2. MENTAL & SPIRITUAL

I often say,

Martial arts is like a coin with two sides.

One side is the physical cultivation side, preparing you for combat.

The other side is the mental cultivation side, preparing you for life.

The thin edge is the spiritual cultivation side, the glue that holds it all together so you can ascend.

I strongly believe  Martial Arts is a Way of Life, therefore the mental and spiritual aspects are key to ensuring you are a complete martial artist, else you’ll only ever be a third of a martial artist if you only ever practice in the physical domain.

If you want to learn how to cultivate the martial way inspired by Bruce Lee’s philosophy, then these books are a MUST HAVE:

You cannot truly understand Bruce Lee’s martial philosophy if you do not understand Bruce’s essence, mindset and the process he went through.  These books are a MUST HAVE to truly understand where and how Jeet Kune Do was born:

3. COLLECTORS

And finally we come to the collectors books which are going up in price, so I strongly recommend you grab a hold of these as an investment ASAP:

I hope you enjoy these books, and they enrich your martial journey.

Peace, respect & love, Sifu Lak Loi
