Bruce Lee described ‘The Broken Rhythm Way’ as:
‘Not to move against,
But to lead within ones aura.’
He went on to explain Broken Rhythm as:
- First of all you must have a ‘sensitively cool’ aura.
- Your footwork must be light and smooth – extremely fast.
Note for #1 and #2 above: Proper practice is a matter of being effective within organisation.
- To have opponent fully commit and out of form.
- To have the ‘half-beat’ to fit in harmoniously either to:
- Attack on the unguarded mass without momentum,
- To merge and ‘gap-into’ a single functioning unit:
- To throw, and
- To un-crisp.
- To coordinate all power to attack his weakness [the body is soft while the tools are powerful]:
- Momentum vs. muscular force.
- A stiff and inflexible body is not dynamic and fails to communicate impulse to opponents body.
