All JKD London students automatically agree to abide by these school rules when you enrol as a member, and endeavour to uphold these school rules throughout your tenure with JKD London. The school rules are subject to change without any prior notice, and it is your responsibility to ensure you are familiar with them by checking the school rules regularly. JKD London reserves the right to refuse entrance to our classes, events, and/or cancel your membership if the below rules are not adhered to.
JKD London endeavours to:
- Preserve and promote Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do to the highest quality standard possible;
- Create a fun, friendly and action-packed community environment to allow you and all the other JKD students to learn and grow in a safe and comfortable environment; and
- Treat your JKD Instructor, fellow JKD students, Special Guests, and prospective JKD students who come in for an introductory JKD class with utmost respect and honour.
It is your responsibility as a JKD London student to ensure that you have read and fully understand the school rules to uphold and respect them to your highest value.
Contagion Policy
We ask all students and instructors to take reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of any contagion (including but not limited to covid, flu, virus, cold, etc), to ensure the health and safety of one another. Our studio-based JKD classes were suspended for 18 months during the pandemic (Mar 2020 – Aug 2021), and we’d like to take reasonable measures to ensure business continuity and longevity hereon.
For everyones health & safety, attendees must only attend if you are all clear of any contagion (for example, covid, flu, cold, virus, etc), and have not been exposed to anyone with the contagion in the last 10 days regardless of whether you are jabbed and/or have had booster(s)
You do not need to provide any evidence of your results – I trust you whole heartedly that you will act in the best interests of yourself, your fellow JKD students, your JKD instructors, your JKD London school, and wider community.
Also, whilst on-site, please maintain hygienic practices by using anti-viral cleaning products before, during and after JKD class, and honour the gyms covid guidelines.
In the event anyone discovers they had covid during a JKD class:
- You MUST inform your JKD instructor immediately via SMS or email ASAP
- JKD classes maybe suspended for 2 weeks to self-isolate
- No refunds, rebates or membership changes will be provided during this time.
This would be unfair to everyone. So let us act as one JKD family to the best of our abilities to stay healthy and keep training. Please note, there will be serious consequences if anyone is found to attend JKD class knowing they had covid or any other contagion.

3-Month Probation Period – The Rite of Passage
At JKD London, every new student begins their journey with a 3-month probationary period. This is not simply a trial of attendance — it is a test of spirit, humility, and alignment with the values of our school.
During this time, you will be observed not only for your effort in training, but for your attitude, respect, and willingness to surrender to the process. This period is designed to protect the sacred environment of our community, ensuring it remains a place of trust, brotherhood, and growth.
At the end of the probation, you may be welcomed fully into the school, or your membership may be declined if it is felt that you are not in harmony with our ethos. This decision rests solely with the school and is final. The reasons may not be disclosed — for in martial arts, as in life, some lessons are felt rather than explained.
This rite of passage is not about judgment. It is about earning the honour of Diksha (initiation) into a lineage that demands discipline, humility, and respect. For those who embrace it with sincerity, the path of Jeet Kune Do will open in ways that transform body, mind, and spirit.
Online Training Waiver
You confirm that in taking part in online classes, that you are over the age of 16 or, that you are a parent or guardian responsible for the supervision of class participants under the age of 16 (minors). You confirm that you are solely responsible for your health and safety during the online class, and where a parent or guardian is responsible for the supervision of minors during the online class, you hold sole responsibility for ensuring the health and safety of such minors during the online class. You, and any minor for whom you are responsible, take these online classes at your own risk and you understand that they may be physically strenuous, and you voluntarily participate in them with full knowledge that there is risk of personal injury &/or death. You also understand that the Instructors in online classes cannot see class participants or guide class participants during classes. You therefore take full responsibility for your actions and the actions of any minors for which you are responsible during the class. To the fullest extent permitted by law, JKD London and Martial Mind Power shall not be liable in contract, tort, negligence, breach of statutory duty or otherwise for any injury, death, loss, damage, costs or expenses of any nature whatsoever incurred or suffered by you or any minor in your care. Please note, our martial arts club insurance does not cover any students for (but not limited to) member-to-member contact and personal indemnity insurance outside the official training venues.
School Etiquette
JKD London prides itself on creating a fun, friendly and action-packed community environment to allow you and other JKD students to learn and grow in a comfortable and easy environment. Egos are not tolerated, and will lead to dismissal or refusal of enrolment into JKD London.
JKD classes are conducted in the same manner Bruce Lee taught in his JKD schools… with
Firm relaxness and relaxed firmness.
That is to say JKD is taken seriously to be effective for its’ application as a street fighting art, so that when you or a loved one is put in harms way, then your JKD teachings will be available at your fingertips because you listened and trained diligently in JKD class. At the same time it is relaxed so you can enjoy the process that is Jeet Kune Do.
During JKD class, your Instructor will call out some voice-commands in Cantonese. Please observe these carefully at all times. Failure to honour and respect your JKD Instructor and fellow JKD students may result in you being told to miss an activity, leave the JKD class, or dismissal from the school altogether. The JKD voice commands are as follows: –
- Yu-Pay: this command means “ready” and will be called with your JKD Instructor bowing to you and the rest of the students by extending “peace & respect”. When this command is called, you are required to acknowledge the command by returning “peace & respect” back to your JKD Instructor by calling out the word “Sifu”, which means your Kung Fu mother/father and teacher. After doing so, stand tall with your hands by your sides in total silence, and listen carefully as your JKD Instructor is about to deploy some valuable JKD teachings;
- Bay-Jong: this command means get in to your JKD fighting structure and stance, also referred to as the “ready stance” or “on-guard position”;
- Hai: this command means “go” or “continue”, and you can proceed with the activity prescribed;
- Jeet: this command means “stop”. Students are required to stop all their activity and stand quietly in a safe position. Talking over the JKD Instructor is strictly prohibited, and may lead to your dismissal from the JKD class as it is dishonourable to everyone in the JKD class, and interferes with everyone else’s learning experience;
- Gin-Lai: this command means “Jun Fan Salute”. “Jun Fan” is Bruce Lee’s Chinese name meaning “to arouse and make FAN (San FrANcisco & the United States) prosperous”. In respect and honour of our Sijo Bruce Lee (founder of Jeet Kune Do), we open and close all JKD classes with the Jun Fan Salute, which is to bow at the beginning and end of each JKD class just as Bruce Lee did in his own JKD schools. Your JKD Instructor will teach you how to perform the Jun Fan Salute if you are not sure how to do it.
During JKD class, your JKD Instructor may use chalk markers on the mirrors to write down additional information to assist with your JKD development and learning. It is courtesy for the JKD students to volunteer to clean up the mirrors after use, and return them to a mirror finish so the gym management continue to allow us use of their mirrors for this purpose.
If you have used any equipment in the gym during the JKD class, then all students are required to return the equipment back to its original storage location safely.
Integrity, respect, courage, honour, compassion, honesty & sincerity, duty & loyalty, justice, and self-control are a way of life at JKD London, both in- and out-side the school.
Please exercise good manners and etiquette towards your instructor(s) and fellow students with simple everyday courteous and polite actions within the school, and any out-of-school activities and events, including (but not limited to) classes, recaps/resits, gradings, seminars, workshops, experiences, retreats, camps and school trips.
All discipline, is self-discipline.
Please note, we have a zero tolerance policy on any disrespectful, disruptive, denigrating and/or insubordinate behaviour towards other students and your JKD Instructor(s), and will lead to your immediate dismissal and prohibition from all the training venues. Please note, when a student is dismissed, the student forfeits his/her monthly training and fee immediately along with any other events the student is registered and/or paid up for, including (but not limited to) classes, recaps/resits, gradings, seminars, workshops, experiences, retreats, camps and school trips. All forms of correspondence, communication and collaboration with the school and its’ students will cease immediately following the termination notice being served, and the decision is final.
Private Tuition
All private tuition is strictly by appointment only and subject to instructor and venue availability. Venue hire costs are separate from private tuition fees and must be covered by the client.
Any changes to an appointment require a minimum of 7 days notice and subject to venue policies. Failure to provide sufficient notice will result in a 100% charge of the booked session, including “No Shows” and cancellations.
Block bookings of 10 hours must be fully redeemed within three months of purchase. Unused sessions will expire and are non-refundable.
All sessions begin and end at the agreed time. Please arrive 15 mins before your session, so we can start on-time. If a student arrives late, the lost time is forfeited in order to honour the instructor’s other commitments. Students are expected to arrive prepared, in suitable training attire, and with a respectful and disciplined attitude. Any breach of conduct may result in the session being terminated without refund.
The instructor reserves the right to refuse or discontinue private tuition if the student fails to demonstrate commitment, discipline, or respect for the instructor and training environment. These standards ensure that all students receive the highest level of training and that the integrity of the school is upheld.
Arriving at the Gym
You are allowed to arrive on site for your JKD class 15 minutes before the start time. Upon your arrival, please register your name at the front-desk, letting them know… “I’m here for JKD Class”, and when acknowledged by the front-of-house proceed down to the changing rooms and gym floor appropriately. Please do not loiter in the reception area, and dispose of your litter in appropriate receptacles placed throughout the gym and changing room areas should you make and consume any purchases from the gym shop or externally whilst in reception. JKD classes are held in the designated studio – please speak to your instructor for more information.
You are not allowed to use any gym facility except the changing rooms, toilets, water fountains, showers, and studio when your JKD Instructor is present, unless you are a member of that facility. Please note, the gyms may charge for towel hire at their discretion. If you are a member of the gym, then please let your JKD Instructor know in advance.
If you are late and miss any part of the warm-up and/or the pre-workout stretch, you are more liable to injury due to physical activity as your body is not best prepared. Therefore it is up to you to arrive on time, and in the event you are late (we seldom refuse students access, though reserve the right to do so), you take full responsibility and ownership for any potential injuries that you may incur.
Locker Use
For safety reasons, no extra items such as luggage or clothing are to be left on the gym floor or on the fitness equipment whilst in the gym. If you require a locker, then bring your own padlock. The lockers are located in the changing rooms. Please note, you are required to remove your luggage from the lockers at the end of that JKD class, else your lock maybe cut open by the facility to make their locker available to other members, and your luggage maybe repossessed by the gym as per their policy. If you require overnight locker storage, then please speak to the gym directly for private locker rental for an additional fee which you can arrange with the gym directly. JKD London and the training venues assume no responsibility for the loss, damage or theft of any of your personal possessions, so leave your possessions at your own risk.
Studio Use
Whilst in the gym before JKD class, in the event the fitness studio is unoccupied and not being used by another fitness class or personal trainer, you are strictly prohibited from using the fitness studio because you are not insured.
Upon entering the fitness studio, please ensure all your bags and belongings are stored safely in the changing room lockers (no bags allowed in this Studio), place any martial arts training equipment to the back and sides of the studio for easy access during JKD class, to keep the main fitness studio training area clear and safe for you to train in without any hazards.
Clear Up After Yourself
Whist on the premises, please ensure that you dispose of all your litter (such a empty bottles, snack wrappers, banana skins, apple cores, etc) in the bins provided, which are placed around the gym floor, in the fitness studio and in the changing rooms for your convenience.
Leaving the Gym
Please ensure that you vacate the training venue within 5 mins of your JKD class finishing, and vacate the premises before 9pm.
Any violation of these rules or etiquette may lead to your dismissal from JKD London and prohibition from training venues.
Uniform
All JKD London students must wear the JKD London uniform, which consists of a t-shirt and track-suit bottoms, as well as a pair of your own comfortable trainers (preferably flat-soled with an ample foot-box for utmost safety and control). You can purchase your JKD London uniform through your JKD Instructor within the first month or two of enrolling. Your JKD London uniform must be clean and worn in all JKD classes.
Your uniform represents being accepted into the JKD London family, submission to your teachers commands, and to create a sense of oneness amongst the JKD London family.
If for whatever reason you do not have your JKD uniform available in JKD class, then please speak to your JKD Instructor before JKD class starts.
Attire other than the JKD London uniform is unacceptable attire in JKD class, as this goes against our school philosophy. This includes t-shirts purchased from non JKD London events and seminars.
In-Class Relationships
JKD London does *NOT* condone in-class relationships (unless you enrol as partners in the first instance). Pursuant behaviour will be deemed as harassment &/or sexual harassment and will result in the termination of your membership. Also, when relationships sour, it causes animosity within the group, spoils the dynamic within the school, and damages the students’ reputation, to name but a few reasons why we are strongly against in-class relationships.
This goes against the movement to maintain a fun, friendly and action-packed community environment to allow you and other students to learn and grow in a safe and comfortable environment, hence such behaviour is strictly prohibited in the school, which includes all events and activities both on- and off-site such as (but not limited to) classes, seminars, workshops, experiences, retreats, camps, excursions and parties.
On that basis, please kindly keep your personal life & romance outside of the school. Remember, you are here to learn how to protect yourself and loved ones when put in harms way, and to cultivate your self-mastery to raise your consciousness using martial arts & philosophy.
Failure to control your carnal urges is deemed highly disrespectful, a severe violation of the School Rules, shows an extreme lack of self-mastery and self-control, is deemed as offensive behaviour, and will result in the termination of your membership.
Training Equipment
You can only purchase your JKD training equipment directly from JKD London, as all of our JKD training equipment is observed by our insurer, as well as being tried and tested by the school and of the highest quality, available through your JKD Instructor at competitive prices. On this basis, third party equipment is strictly prohibited for use in the school, unless your JKD Instructor has given you prior permission at his/her discretion.
There is no pressure to purchase your equipment immediately, though you should be aware that you should purchase it within a timely manner so you will be able to participate in all the JKD training drills, exercises and sparring activities effectively. Failure to do so may result in you having to sit out of the activity due to lack of appropriate safety training equipment to protect you and/or your fellow colleagues.
Mandatory safety training equipment includes: – boxing gloves; hand wraps, gum shields; shin pads and focus pads.
Additional safety training equipment can also be purchased, which includes: – groin guard; chest guard (females only); head guards; and torso & back protectors.
Any other martial arts training equipment can also be purchased through your JKD Instructor at favorable prices to JKD London members only, such as: – kicking pads; punch/kicking bags, wooden dummies, MMA gloves; and much much more. Just enquire with your JKD Instructor when you are ready.
Digital Dojo
JKD London offer the Digital Dojo, a separate paid membership subscription site, containing:
- JKD video lessons,
- Fitness videos to cultivate martial arts,
- Meditation video lessons,
- Philosophical articles,
- Podcasts, and
- Much more,
to supplement and enhance your JKD / Self Mastery learning experience. Once you have registered, the password should be kept confidential, and any knowledge of access being given out indiscriminately may lead to you forfeiting your access to this resource, and your dismissal from JKD London.
Syllabus
JKD London do not distribute the JKD syllabus willy nilly. As Bruce Lee said, “If knowledge is power, then do not give it away indiscriminately.” Also, a syllabus without proper explanation and instruction does not serve much purpose, and leads to misinterpretation which defeats the whole purpose of preserving and promoting Bruce Lee’s martial art & philosophy of Jeet Kune Do.
To learn the syllabus, we encourage students to attend as many JKD classes as possible, and take notes in JKD class at all times and clarify any questions with your JKD Instructor. When you have been accepted for a grading (see ‘Grading’ section), you will be given a grading syllabus checklist, and your performance and knowledge will be reviewed in a Grading Recap & Review session covering the JKD level(s) you will be assessed in, so you do get the JKD syllabus time and grade appropriately.
Please note, if you lose your JKD syllabus checklist, then another one will be issued for an additional fee of £10 each, so look after it carefully and respect Bruce Lee’s teachings.
Grading
JKD London perceive JKD gradings as an honour rather than a privilege. You must earn your right to grade, as JKD gradings are there to ensure that you can maintain and demonstrate a high standard of knowledge and experience of Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do, so as to preserve and promote JKD to the highest possible standard. If you wish to grade, then please enquire with your JKD Instructor, who will then kindly ask you to fill out a Grading Application Form.
Your JKD Instructor maintains absolute discretion to accept and approve your Grading Application to put you forward for a JKD grading, when s/he is confident that you not only meet, but exceed the required quality standards expected from JKD London students. Once you have been accepted to grade and paid your fees in advance, you will be issued with a JKD syllabus checklist for the level(s) you are grading, which should be used as a reference guide for you to make your own notes.
If you lose your JKD syllabus checklist, then another one will be issued for an additional fee of £10 each, so look after it carefully and respect Bruce Lee’s teachings.
Prior to gradings, your JKD Instructor will endeavour to arrange to recap and review your performance and knowledge of the assessment level, and walk you through all the techniques, their names, applications, knowledge, and anything else related to your grading to ensure you are best prepared in advance (subject to availability). Additonal costs apply for Grading Recaps & Resits, to cover costs for venue hire, teaching time and overheads such as travel.
Where stated in Chinese on the Grading Checksheets, you will be asked to explain and/or demonstrate the technique, principle and/or philosophy in Chinese rather than the English name usually stated in brackets, as per Bruce Lee’s teaching methods. For example, to demonstrate the “Lead and Rear Bil Jee (Finger Jab)”, you will be asked to demonstrate the “Bil Jee”, NOT the “Finger Jab”.
JKD gradings may be held at different locations throughout the year, and JKD London students must make all the necessary arrangements at their own cost to make their own way to the grading location. To cover the costs of the venue hire and time taken to grade each student, there is a separate grading fee which is payable to your JKD Instructor. Please speak to your JKD Instructor for more information.
In order to sit your grading, you MUST attend at least 50% of your subscribed classes within that grading period, else it will be an immediate FAIL and you will forfeit all your grading fees and refused to be accepted into the grading event itself.
Media Etiquette
When you post any material on- or off-line, you are representing JKD London, and carry our reputation and credibility on your shoulders, which we have been building since 2007. Therefore JKD London reserve the right to any and all material related to the school and its’ activities and events from being published publicly without prior permission from your JKD Instructor, to maintain our ethos and quality standards.
JKD London also strictly prohibit any negative material including text, photos, graphical images or otherwise against anyone, in particular other martial arts, martial artists, martial arts schools, including JKD London itself whether it is on- or off-line. This includes all social media websites and applications (but not limited to) such as FaceBook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Forums, SnapChat, Instagram, TikTok, etc.
If you have any issue or question, then please can you kindly pluck up the courage to speak to your JKD Instructor, and s/he will endeavour to resolve any issue(s) in a professional manner.
Videography & Photography
Student videography and photography is strictly prohibited in all JKD classes and events, unless your JKD Instructor has given you prior permission at his/her discretion.
Holidays
JKD London observe all national bank holidays and 4 weeks holiday throughout the year, which are inclusive of all fees. Your JKD membership is based on 48-weeks, allowing 4 weeks holiday per year for all JKD London students and your Instructor to rest, relax, recover and reinvigorate. As they say “rest is equally as important as training”.
If the JKD London school venue is closed or we are unable to train in the insured venue for any reason, then JKD class will be cancelled. Unfortunately no refunds or rebates are given in such unforeseen circumstances.
For the record, JKD London usually take 2 weeks off during the Christmas and New Year festive period, and the other 2 weeks are taken as holiday throughout the year, usually during summer either as two one-week or two-week block.
If you decide to go on holiday, then you can opt to freeze your membership with one full calendar months notice, which means you owe one more months fee from the time you serve notice. See ‘Freeze Membership’ section for more information.
Missed Classes
It is your responsibility to attend as many JKD classes you have signed up for. As they say, “the more you put in, the more you get out”. In the event you miss any JKD classes, no refunds will be given, and you cannot rollover any JKD classes. Your JKD membership works exactly like a mobile phone contract. If you decide not to use your mobile phone, you still have to pay for the service which is available for your use.
Payments
All JKD London membership fees are collected automatically by electronic Direct Debit (eDD), so you do not have to scramble for cash each class, and more importantly it frees your JKD Instructor up so s/he can spend more time giving attention to you, the student and your teachings before and after JKD class. If the venue & time permits, your JKD Instructor may decide to give you extra JKD teaching and coaching at his/her discretion. Please speak to your JKD Instructor if you need additional coaching &/or help.
All direct debits are collected by a professional martial arts school collections agency, which have been appointed by JKD London since 2008. Their details are shown below: –
NEST Management, Unit 3.2 Wilford Business Park, Ruddington Lane, Nottingham, NG11 7EP – 0115 945 5030
If you have any enquiries regarding your payments, please kindly honour and respect your JKD Instructor and speak to him/her directly, who will endeavour to resolve any issue(s) promptly, and help find a solution for you.
Freeze/Unfreeze Membership
In the event you cannot train but intend to return, such as going away on holiday, sustained an injury, or for any other personal reason, you can freeze your membership for a nominal monthly fee with one months notice period – which means you owe one more months fee at the time of serving notice.
The benefits of freezing your membership are:
- You maintain your attendance record, else your attendance record gets deleted and you have to start all over. Your attendance record is also taken into consideration to qualify for gradings and receive invites to special events for long-standing students;
- You continue to receive school communications and teachings;
- You do not have to re-enrol and fill out all the paperwork to sign up again,
- You get invited to school events,
- You can take advantage of all the school special offers and discounts on products and services we offer, and
- You do not need to be re-issued a martial arts license.
The nominal membership freeze fee also covers the administration costs to maintain these services in the background, as well as continue to provide you with access to the private ‘Members Area’ so you can stay current with the JKD teachings whilst ‘off’, and able to benefit from the member discounts and offers on seminars, events, and much more.
In the event you have sustained an injury, then a medical report or doctors note is required to be submitted at the time of your request to freeze your membership on this basis.
As per the electronic Direct Debit (eDD) agreement, any changes to your membership payment requires one full calendar months notice period – which means you owe one more months fee at the time you serve notice. When you request your membership to be frozen, please specify the date when you want to resume your training (if you know it at that time) in writing by email or text message to your JKD Instructor. Please note, membership freezing/unfreezing notifications can only be accepted & actioned from Monday to Friday within normal business operating hours of 09:00 to 17:00 hours. Please note, you will not receive any response during weekends, public holidays, official JKD London holidays and when your JKD Instructor(s) is/are on holiday. From the date your notice has been accepted by your JKD Instructor by confirmation communication by SMS or email, you will owe one more payment at the usual rate before the membership drops down to the nominal membership freeze fee. If you have provided a date on which your membership is going to resume, then this will be actioned automatically without any further notice. Should you require any changes to your unfreeze date, this is also subject to a one months notice period. Any other forms of communication will not be accepted, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter or other social media messages.
Please note, the one full calendar month notice period is required by our collections company NEST Management, and the freeze/unfreeze process is outside of JKD Londons’ control. To avoid any misunderstanding and disappointment during a freeze/unfreeze process, please note you owe one more months fee at the current rate regardless of what date you provide notice, even if it is on the 31st or the 1st of the month. Please ensure that you take full control & responsibility for providing a minimum of one months notice. We understand that you don’t always learn about such changes with ample notice, but that is outside of our control and we cannot bend our rules / process, because it still takes us one month to process your request effectively.
Once acknowledged, your freeze/unfreeze will be handled automatically by your JKD Instructor, so no further action is required. You will receive a confirmation email or text message, stating when your final payment will be collected, which date you will be able to train till, and what date your membership will resume (if that information has been provided at the time of freezing your membership). Your direct debit will automatically be amended by NEST Management, who will also issue a letter of confirmation to this extent.
Cancel Membership
We are always sad to see students go, but we understand people need to move on. As Bruce Lee himself quoted… “Walk On!”
If you do decide to leave our JKD school, (usually when students relocate for a better career opportunity), then as per the direct debit agreement, any changes to your membership payment requires one full calendar months notice period in writing by email or SMS message to your JKD Instructor – which means you owe one more months fee from the date you serve notice. Please note, membership cancellation notifications can only be accepted & actioned from Monday to Friday within normal business operating hours of 09:00 to 17:00 hours. Please note, you will not receive any response during weekends, public holidays, official JKD London holidays and when your JKD Instructor(s) is/are on holiday. From the date your notice has been accepted by your JKD Instructor by confirmation communication by text or email, you will owe one more payment at the usual rate before the membership is cancelled. Any other forms of communication will not be accepted, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter or other social media messages.
Please note, the one full calendar month notice period is required by our collections company NEST Management, and the cancellation process is outside of JKD Londons’ control. To avoid any misunderstanding and disappointment during a cancellation process, please note you owe one more months fee at the current rate regardless of what date you provide notice, even if that is on the 31st or the 1st of the month. Please ensure that you take full control & responsibility for providing a minimum of one months notice.
Your cancellation will be handled automatically by your JKD Instructor, so no further action is required. You will receive a confirmation email or text message, stating when your final payment will be collected, and which date you will be able to train till. Your direct debit will automatically be cancelled by NEST Management, who will also issue a letter of confirmation to this extent.
In the event you accidentally cancel your direct debit without serving your one full calendar months notice, then when NEST Management attempt to collect your payment and it fails because the direct debit does not exist, then NEST Management take the necessary measures to obtain your fees owed as per your agreement, which may include legal recourse, potential damage to your credit history and additional legal expenses. To avoid such problems, please notify your JKD Instructor immediately. Once a failed payment is detected, the matter is outside of JKD Londons’ control, so please keep an open communication with your JKD Instructor. In the event of any payment issues, please speak to your JKD Instructor immediately for a prompt resolution.
No Rebate & Refund Policy
It costs a lot of time, effort, energy and money to plan and provide your monthly trainings and events. In the event you have registered and paid for your monthly training or an event and cannot make it for any reason, we have a strict no rebate and refund policy as we have laid out the costs to accommodate you as explained above in preparation for your event, which is irrecoverable. On that basis, we have a strict NO REBATE & REFUND POLICY which includes (but not limited to) monthly trainings, gradings, seminars, retreats, camps, excursions, experiences and workshops. In the event a student has been dismissed from the school, he/she forfeits all monthly training and event access and fees immediately with no rebates and refunds.
Medical Conditions
Your health & safety is paramount, and given Jeet Kune Do is a full contact martial art, we take reasonable measures to carry out a risk assessment to ensure you can train safely. To that extent we kindly ask you to carefully and honestly fill out a Membership Application Form (see below) which includes a PAR-Q (Physical Activity Readiness-Questionnaire) and Informed Consent before you start your JKD training. Failure to fill out the Membership Application Form honestly will lead to your dismissal from the school.
In the event you suffer from a Medical Condition, you MUST provide an official Doctors Consent Form clearly stating that you are able to partake in a full contact martial art, and understand the risk of injury and/or death (as mentioned on your Membership Application Form) due to the nature of the activity.
JKD London reserve the right to refuse to teach new and existing students.
Injuries, Illnesses & Ailments
It is the students responsibility to let the instructor(s) teaching the JKD class know of any injuries, illnesses or ailments you have at the beginning and throughout the JKD class on the day of attendance.
The instructor(s) will endeavour to offer any adaptations to the exercises, drills, workouts and activities in light of your injury, illness or ailment during the JKD class, to help you train safely and effectively so the student gets the most out of their JKD class.
It is also the students responsibility to let his/her training partner(s) know of any injuries, illnesses or ailments so that they can also adjust their training/activity accordingly.
Instructor Sickness
JKD is the life-blood of our JKD Instructors, and through sickness and health, we endeavor to provide you with fun, friendly and action-packed community JKD classes. In the event your JKD Instructor is taken ill, they usually endeavor to keep going, as they say, “The show must go on”, in order to avoid cancelling any JKD classes.
However, once in a while your JKD Instructor maybe forced to take time off sick to rest, relax and recover, as well as prevent spreading contagious illnesses to you and the rest of your JKD class. During such unforeseen cancellations, no rebates and refunds are offered, but your JKD Instructor will endeavour to make it up to you where possible.
Accidents, Damages and Loss
In the event you have an accident &/or damage anything in the venue in which you are training and learning, then you must report it to your instructor on duty immediately so it can be logged and dealt with appropriately by your instructor. Failure to do so may result in your dismissal from the school.
In the event of any loss or damage to any equipment, fixtures and fittings (but not limited to), the student is personally liable for the total costs, except for wear and tear under normal use.
